JOINTS

Structural classification

Fiber / Fixed
The bones are connected by a dense connective tissue composed primarily of collagen. Fibrous joints are further divided into:
sutures (between the skull bones)
sindesmosi (among the long bones, such as radio and ulna. Unlike other fibrous joints, it's mobile)
gomfosi (articulation between the root of the tooth and the mandibular sulcus)

Cartilage
The bones are connected esclusivamnete through the cartilage. These joints allow for greater movement, though not as much as synovial joints. Examples are the joints between the ribs and the sternum. The joint cartilage forming region ndi growth of long bones are not mature and vertebral discs in the spinal column. There are two types of joint cartilage:
Primary, or sincodrosi: the bones are connected by cartilage ialina. This cartilage may ossify with age. Not moving
Secondary, or symphysis: fibrocartilaginea joints, typical of the disks between the verterbre and symphysis pubis. Allows a slight movement

Synovial
The synovial articulation has a space between the bones and the articular synovial fluid. It 'the kind of articulation more mobile. It's articulation further divided into:

Functional classification
Sinartrosi
Allow little or no mobility. Can be characterized depending on how the two bones are joined in:

Synostosis, or sutures where two originally separate bones can merge. Most are of a fibrous

Diartrosi
Allow many movements (such as bending, pronazione, etc..). Only synovial joints are diartroidali. Can be divided into 6 classes:
artrodia (the two articular surfaces are flat and only allow movement of sliding of the two articular heads)
enartrosi (the two heads of bone are a spherical concave and the other convex angular movements and work on all floors)
condiloartrosi (the two bone heads are an ellipsoidal concave and convex and the other allows an angular movement on two floors)
a saddle (the two bodies are biaxial convex and concave to fit each other and allow axial rotation)
ginglimo side (the two heads are bone cylinders with the axis of the body parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bones. The movement is rotation)
ginglimo angle (the two bones are cylinders with the axis of the cylinder perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the head of the bones. The movement is angular)
